Overview

The NovoEd Notification Bot for Microsoft Teams helps learners stay connected with their courses without ever leaving their workspace. By delivering real-time notifications directly in Microsoft Teams, this integration keeps your learners engaged, collaborative and productive while making learning with NovoEd a seamless part of their daily routine. 

NovoEd notifications are delivered for: 

• Direct Mentions in Course Discussions: Get notified when you are @mentioned in a course discussion. 
• New Comments on Your Submissions: Stay updated when someone comments on your discussion or video submissions. 
• Featured Videos in Courses: Be the first to know when a video is featured in your course. 

NovoEd's Notification Bot doesn’t just keep learners updated - it also lets them take actions from directly within Microsoft Teams: 

• React to Comments: Like and respond to comments and mentions directly from Teams. 
• Navigate to Content: Click to open discussions or videos directly in NovoEd for a deeper dive. 
• Find Lessons and Discussions in NovoEd: Search from Teams to find the exact content you are looking for in NovoEd. 

App Permissions

This app will have permission to:

• Receive messages and data that I provide to it.
• Send me messages and notifications.
• Access my profile information such as my name, email address, company name and preferred language.

NOTE: 

The NovoEd Notification Bot for Microsoft Teams will only support integration with one NovoEd single institution. If a user is enrolled across multiple institutions that have the integration enabled, then notifications from the oldest institution will be synced (based on institution creation date). 

Permissions

• Microsoft Teams Admin must allow use of the app within the Microsoft Teams Admin Center
  • Option 1: Make the app available in your organization’s Teams App Marketplace
  • Option 2: Enable default installation of the app for all or selected users
• NovoEd Org Admin must enable the integration in NovoEd
• Individual NovoEd users must install the app in their Microsoft Teams instance (or the Microsoft Teams Admin can install the app globally to all users)

Directions

To enable the NovoEd Notification Bot for Microsoft Teams integration in NovoEd:

1. Log into NovoEd as an Org Admin.
2. Select the Org Admin Tools menu from the left-side navigation panel.
3. Select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
4. Select the INTEGRATIONS tab.
5. Select the blue ENABLE MS TEAMS BOT button.

To permit use of the NovoEd Notification Bot for Microsoft Teams app for your organization:

Microsoft Teams Administrators should refer to Microsoft’s documentation regarding managing Microsoft Teams apps for their organization: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/manage-apps. The NovoEd Notification Bot for Microsoft Teams app can be made available for individual self-installation or the app can be installed globally for all or selected users.

To install the app in your individual Microsoft Team instance:

• Search for “NovoEd Notification Bot” in your Microsoft Teams instance. 
• If you are permitted to use the app, select the ADD button. 
• If your organization does not permit the use of the app, select the REQUEST APPROVAL button and/or contact your organization’s Microsoft Teams Administrator.
