An identity provider (IdP) is typically the source of truth for user profile information, especially first name, last name, and email address. As users log into NovoEd using single sign-on (SSO), the identity provider sends NovoEd the user's first name, last name, and email address. This information is updated in the user's profile each time they sign in with SSO. Because a user's name is sent by the IdP, it is standard practice that organizations lock users' ability to update their name.
