We encourage adding profile questions to supplement the default questions asked by NovoEd. Default questions include gender, location, employer, past schools, and a short biography. Profile questions are a great way for learners to be able to search one another in the course. Below, we are going to cover "How to Add Profile Questions" for
- Course-long teams
Learners have a course profile and a NovoEd profile. We encourage you to add additional questions and enrich their course profile. Course profile questions enable learners in the class to find each other more easily. You can decide the maximum privacy level on each profile question. Learners can sometimes make their responses more private, i.e. decide to only share them with the teaching team. You can add course profile questions at any point in the class, however NovoEd only notifies learners about them in the first week of the class.
To add profile questions for learners:
1. Go to your course Dashboard, click on "Profiles" on the right navigation bar, and select "Add Learner Profile Questions".
2. Submit after you add the questions.
User profile questions are accessible on the user interface from the learner dashboard.
If you decide to include self-formed course-long teams (as detailed here), you may want to add profile questions for the team. These profile questions will help learners narrow their search to find other learners of similar interests.
To add team profile questions:
1. Go to "Assignment" and then go to the Team Formation assignment.
2. Go to the 'Team Profile Questions' at the end of the assignment page and click "Edit".
3. Add team profile questions as you see fit:
Although Groups cannot submit assignments together, groups are great for creating study groups, learning squads, and fostering communities of practice.
If the Groups feature is enabled in the course, you can always add "Group Profile Questions" from the Dashboard visiting the "Content" tab on the left navigation and selecting "Edit Group Profile Questions".
These question and answers will help you better categorize the Groups made, especially helpful for search.
