With Groups, learners can create a dedicated page and space for others to join based on common interest and to provide feedback and network with each other. Groups members can create meetings, upload documents, and share work with each other for feedback throughout a course. Learner have the ability to join multiple groups at a time (unlike with teams, where they can only join one group).
Group Formation and Membership
Teaching teams can create groups for learners, or learners can create groups on their own. Only teaching teams can set the maximum limit to the groups through the Dashboard.
Learners and teaching team members can also set the privacy level for the group (public to the course or private by invitation only). The privacy level of a group cannot be changed after it has been set.
The individual who creates the group becomes the group admin and has the ability to remove and add learners as well as approve membership requests for closed private groups. There can be multiple admins for a group at a time.
At the top of every group workspace, learners can create a meeting event (seeing at a glance who can make it with the color-coded RSVPs), upload a document, and even share an existing submission for feedback.
- Join a literary interest group on a style of writing that you’re hoping to receive feedback on (YA Literature, Poetry, etc.)
- Become a member of a club on a topic that you want to learn more about (women in business, innovative healthcare, etc.)
