NovoEd has three options for how teams are formed: by learners, by teaching team, and by computer.
Most courses use only teams that last for the duration of the course. If the teams are learner formed, learners are responsible for either starting a team or joining one. If the course-long teams are either teaching team formed or computer formed, all learners will be assigned to a team at a specified time. Learners can only be on one course-long team at a time.
Some courses use teams that last only for the duration of an assignment. These teams cannot be learner formed, they are either assigned by the teaching team or by the computer. These teams do not have team leads and are fixed for the duration of the assignment. Assignment-long teams can co-exist with each other and a course-long team.
Computer formed teams will often use an algorithm based on answers to your profile questions to place you on a team, so do make sure to fill out your profile!
