Prerequsites allow admins to set requirements for learners to finish tasks before they may access content like an assignment, quiz, survey, or lecture page.
In your course, you are able to set tasks as "prerequisites" to other tasks.
You can set access to view a Lecture Page, Assignment, Quiz Assignment, or Lecture Video dependent on doing the following tasks:
- Viewing a Lecture Page
- Completing Assignment
- Completing a Quiz Assignment
- Completing a Course Survey
How to Set Up a Prerequisite
To set up a task as a prerequisite, visit your Course Dashboard and with "Content" selected at the left, look for the "Prerequisites" section:
You can then select "Add Prerequisite" to get started.
All qualifying tasks will populate the lists in your selection.
When making changes to prerequisites and dependent tasks, we will have a warning for any dependency loops created (but do take note when making changes to lecture access).
What Will Learners See?
Once a Prerequisite is set up, the only visual change for learners is a locked screen when they try to access the task. We recommend letting learners know beforehand which tasks are prerequisites for others.
As a course admin, you will be able to access all tasks - but you will notice a lock tooltip at the top of any lecture page where a prerequisite is set up.
